Stand alone gun cost

For discussing the vehicles rules....

Stand alone gun cost

Postby menelduir » Fri Aug 05, 2016 3:02 am

Tired, unfocused, perhaps I have missed it...

How is the point cost calculated for a stand alone gun?
Does an individual gun, say a light gun, cost 1 gear point for the base model?
Each modification can then be paid at a cost of 2 modification points per gear point spent.

The main point of the question, does it cost a full gear point for a light gun, 2 full gear points for a medium guns etc?
I see it as being much like a vehicle has a fixed cost based on it size then you spend gear points on a 1 to 2 modification points basis to modify the vehicle.

Thank you

A standalone gun costs the same as it would if it was mounted in a vehicle.

For example, you could get two light guns for 1 Gear point, or get 1 light gun and add a 1 pt gun mod for the same 1 Gear pt.

I hope that helps.

Hi

It does help to clarify, as it makes it less expensive than I thought.
Sadly it will only encourage one of my players to field more guns!!!

On a somewhat related topic, if a blast marker placed by a gun (or some other ability) causes damage, does the initiative change?
It is an attack, as it counts towards multiple combats, but is not entirely a combat, as there was no risk to the character that placed the blast/burst.

I have said it does not cause the initiative to be taken.

Thanks Chris

For example, you could get two light guns for 1 Gear point, or get 1 light gun and add a 1 pt gun mod for the same 1 Gear pt.

Just to clarify, does this mean that the Workshop perk can be used to provide two unmodified light guns each scenario, or one light gun with one modification?
Also, if combined with the Gearhead ability, could each of the two light guns provided by Workshop, or a Gear point, receive a single modification, or would the Gearhead character have to choose one gun for both modifications?
Thanks,

You are 100% correct.

To be clear, when we say "clearly win a fight" that is precisely what we mean.

If you didn't roll Shoot or Brawl dice, then you can not steal the Initiative. Period.

The Gearhead could add one modification to both guns.
