Monsters and Mastermind Perks

So, the monsters perk states, that all characters in a league is now a Monster. Does that mean they get Monster ability for free? Or does characters now become the subject for Horror Deck rules?

Also, what's the point of Mastermind perk? You get 6 slots in exchange of a leader. So generally you get Sidekick+15 slots (-1 for the perk). But you can also get Leader with commander ability, giving you 14 slots. Sidekick+15 doesn't seem fair against Leader+14.

No, it does not mean you automatically have the Monster Kit as well. It simply means that all of your characters count as "monsters" for anything that affects/benefits monsters.

Please understand that this can mean quite a lot or nothing at all based on what other "optional" rules you are choosing to use.

For example, if you are also using the Moving in Shadow setting, then knowing who is a "monster" is important. Likewise, if you choose to use the optional rule that makes all monsters "horrific" then it also matters.

Note that the Monster Kit is already free, if you are choosing to include kits in your games. So it would already be free to add it to characters in a Monster league.

The difference is more narrow when you consider you'd also have to use up one of your Leader's ability slots to get to 14 slots. But you are correct, Commander still has a slight advantage. Maybe I'll balance those two a bit more if I ever get around to making a 2nd Edition Pulp Alley. :D
