Lost World of Lemuria -- Kickstarter

Postby Dave » Sun Sep 10, 2017 8:34 pm

Our Pulp Alley Kickstarter reached the $6,000 stretch goal today and we're steaming towards $6,500. Most of the backers are going to end up with buckets of cool bonus cards! :D

Here are a couple photos of some of our new miniatures. THANKS to Andrew Taylor for painting these for us...

We always encourage players to use miniatures of their own choosing. The cards in our Lemuria book include photos of models, but this is more for decoration and flavor than anything else. If you are interested in adding some of these beautiful figures to your own collection, here's where to find them ---

Antediluvian Miniatures — http://www.antediluvianminiatures.com

Forge of Ice Miniatures — https://www.facebook.com/notes/forge-of ... 231058831/

And here's a picture of all the models that appear on the Lemuria cards ---

Thanks, this is really useful.
How many of each type will the leagues run into (i.e. how many do we need)?

For the 8 at the top, the Terrors, and Ikkiuk Umuk, one is enough.

For some beasts, you shouldn't ever need more than 2 - such as the Karsh Creeper, Terror Bird, Armored Croc, and Giant Crab. One may be enough most of the time.

Hey wait... where's the Karsh Creeper and Terror Bird? Hmm... probably should have the Lemurian Man-Eater on there too. Oops....

Anyhoo... For the other stuff, including the Queen's Guard, I like to have 3-4 of them handy. But in some scenarios, if things go bad you could end up with 6 or even more in play.

Time to search the tin- and plastics-mountain.
Probably need a purchase or two. What a shame ;)

The Lost World of Lemuria Kickstarter is really doing well...and still plenty of time to go!

I know the goal of the KS is to print the Lost World of Lemuria campaign book, but it looks like we are getting a lot of new blood as backers too. I know I've been chatting this up on a few sites trying to get fresh eyes over to the campaign...even those who've never heard of Pulp Alley before.

So I really think this is a great opportunity to showcase the entire game line in the updates and really draw folks into Pulp Alley.

I'd love to see some updates discussing, step-by-step:

1. What a beginner needs to know and needs to have to get started playing...

- Bare minimum - Pulp Alley Minis Rules, Fortune Deck, types and numbers of dice, types and numbers of minis, measuring tape/ruler, tokens, templates, etc.

- Recommended Supplements - Pulp Leagues (for most league building options), Tomb of the Serpent (for solo & horror rules), etc.

2. Campaign settings and Pulp Alley supplements summations..."why should I buy this" details.

3. Pulp Alley Cards (decks and boosters) discussions...what is needed for what...what is just useful and why...how these cards are used.

4. League (or two) building example with descriptions of stats and abilities...as well as "renaming" examples and multiple ways to represent character concepts.

5. Use the example League(s) for a play example broken up in bite-sized pieces...

- Initiative example

- Fortune Deck explanation

- skill check examples

- combat examples

- Perils - maybe even a sneak peek at and dissection of a Lost World of Lemuria or stretch goal specific peril

- Scenarios - maybe even a sneak peek at and dissection of a Lost World of Lemuria scenario

- Rewards and advancement...the life of Leagues beyond a single scenario or even campaign.

Most of this is stuff that can be gained from the free quickplay Pulp Alley pdf, but I don't think we can expect the casual observer and potentially interested party to have read it before making the call to pledge for Lost World of Lemuria. Though of course they should be pointed to that resource in the updates for further reading for those interested.

Just an idea. These updates would give me something to link to on other forums to bring in Pulp Alley recruits who have never explored its wonders.

Great suggestions, and I couldn't agree more.

Unfortunately, the speed at which we act on advice is far slowly than the rate of its arrive.

But keep it coming nonetheless! It is all appreciated. :D

I get it, you've got a lot going on.

I was just reading some of the questions as well as a lot of questions that I've been asked about Pulp Alley, rules and products, that I thought this might be a great venue for enlightening folks.

I'm sure anything you can do to unearth the secrets of Pulp Alley for the newcomers will be reimbursed in gold and, probably not cursed, artifacts!

We actually recorded our first Pulp Alley tutorial yesterday, just as a test.

It was encouraging enough that we're having another go this afternoon.

I am just hoping that the old fat guy we hired to play me shows up sober this time.

Ha!

Watched the video on the KS update. Excellent!

A lot of folks are visual learners, and you know how hard it is to get kids to crack a danged book these days. Videos seem to be the way to bring the crowds in.
