PA Leagues - Defenders of the Earth [Midnight]

Here's my Pulp Alley League for the Defenders of the Earth...those valiant Pulp heroes Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, The Phantom, and Lothar. Hopefully one of Ming the Merciless' Leagues will follow soon.


Pulp Alley League: Defenders of the Earth
Leader: Flash Gordon
Perks: League of Legends (10) – Your League includes four Sidekicks. Choose one to act as Leader.

Sidekick (Leader): Flash Gordon Health d8
Brawl 2d8 Shoot 3d8 Dodge 3d6
Might 2d6 Finesse 3d8 Cunning 2d6
Abilities: 1. Dashing – Your Shoot and Finesse dice-type are not lowered due to injuries.
2. Veteran – You ignore the Multiple Combats penalty when rolling your Shoot dice.

Sidekick: Mandrake the Magician Health d8
Brawl 2d6 Shoot 2d6 Dodge 3d8
Might 2d6 Finesse 3d8 Cunning 3d8
Abilities: 1. Illusion (Dread Gaze) - Action: Target one enemy anywhere on the table and roll an opposed Finesse check. If you win, the target may not run or shoot this turn. Otherwise, there is no effect.
2. Deceptive Image (Harmless) – You may not be targeted by an enemy action from over 6” away, and you never count as being in line-of-sight unless the enemy is within 6”. You may never Shoot, Brawl, or otherwise attack an enemy. You may be rushed/brawled as normal.

Sidekick: The Phantom Health d8
Brawl 3d8 Shoot 2d6 Dodge 3d8
Might 2d8 Finesse 3d6 Cunning 2d6
Abilities: 1. Stealthy – You may hide as an Action, instead of a Full Action.
2. Daredevil – Once per turn, you receive a +1d bonus when rolling for a Peril.

Sidekick: Lothar Health d8
Brawl 4d8 Shoot N/A Dodge 2d8
Might 4d8 Finesse 2d6 Cunning 3d6
Abilities: 1. Muscles of Steel – Your Brawl and Might dice-type are not lowered due to injuries.
2. Strong Brawler (Animal) – Add +1d to two of your skills. You have no Shoot skill. (Already included in stats.)

Here's a League for Ming's Forces. I used an odd mix of sources, but most of the characters are from the 1980 Flash Gordon movie. Krushh, Killer Robot is an original character (or not so original where Kill! Destroy! robots are concerned, I guess).

Pulp Alley League: Ming's Forces
Leader: Ming the Merciless
Perks: 1. Mastermind (1 - *) – Your league roster does not include a Leader level character. Instead, the league is led by a Sidekick (0 slots) to fill the role of Leader in scenarios. Additionally, your league receives 6 extra roster slots to select level 1 and level 2 characters only.
2. Flyers (2) - One or more of your characters may have the Winged ability for free.

Sidekick (Leader *): Ming the Merciless Health d8
Brawl 2d6 Shoot 2d6 Dodge 3d6
Might 2d8 Finesse 3d8 Cunning 3d8
Abilities: 1. Merciless (Quick-Witted) – Once per turn, shift your Might, Finesse or Cunning dice-type down to gain a +2d bonus to that skill.
2. Ring (Paralyzer) – Action: Target one enemy within 12" and line-of-sight, and roll an opposed Might check. If you win, the target cannot move (including Dodge Move) this turn.
3. Winged (Perk) - You may fly up to 16” ignoring intervening terrain, bursts, and characters, but you may not shoot during the same activation. Any move over 6” also counts as running.

Ally (2): Krushh, Killer Robot Health d6
Brawl 3d6 Shoot N/A Dodge 1d6
Might 3d6 Finesse 1d6 Cunning 1d6
Abilities: 1. Kill! Destroy! (Animal) – Add +1d to two of your skills. You have no Shoot skill.

Ally (2): Princess Aura Health d6
Brawl 1d6 Shoot 1d6 Dodge 2d6
Might 1d6 Finesse 2d6 Cunning 1d6
Abilities: 1. Noblesse – When you are down, you are not ko’d if you fail a Recovery check. Instead, you remain down and may roll again on subsequent turns. While you are down, an enemy in base-to-base contact may knock you out of the game as an action — by passing a random challenge.

Ally (2): Prince Vultan, Hawkman Health d6
Brawl 2d6 Shoot 1d6 Dodge 1d6
Might 2d6 Finesse 1d6 Cunning 1d6
Abilities: 1. Aerial Dodge (Daredevil) – Once per turn, you receive a +1d bonus when rolling for a Peril.
2. Winged (Perk) - You may fly up to 16” ignoring intervening terrain, bursts, and characters, but you may not shoot during the same activation. Any move over 6” also counts as running.

Ally (2): Prince Barin of Arboria Health d6
Brawl 2d6 Shoot 2d6 Dodge 2d6
Might 1d6 Finesse 1d6 Cunning 1d6
Abilities: 1. Marksman – Add +1d to your Shoot. (Already included in stats.)

Gang (2): Prince Barin's Men Health N/A (5x models)
Brawl 1d6/2* Shoot 1d6/2* Dodge 1d6
Might 1d6/2* Finesse 1d6 Cunning 1d6
Abilities: Loyal – This gang is not removed from play until it is reduced down to one model.

Gang (2): Ming's Guard Health N/A (5x models)
Brawl 1d6/2* Shoot 1d6/2* Dodge 1d6
Might 1d6/2* Finesse 1d6 Cunning 1d6
Abilities: Armed – This gang ignores the multiple combats penalty when rolling their Shoot dice.

[1d6/2* = Roll 1d6 per 2 models. Round up.]

Follower (1): Luro, Wingmen Health d6*
Brawl 1d6 Shoot 1d6 Dodge 1d6
Might 1d6 Finesse 1d6 Cunning 1d6
Abilities: 1. Sharp – Once per turn, you may re-roll one Shoot or Finesse die.
2. Winged (Perk) - You may fly up to 16” ignoring intervening terrain, bursts, and characters, but you may not shoot during the same activation. Any move over 6” also counts as running.

Note on the Ming force above. Of course this would be a roster of when all the parties under Ming's command had yet to rebel.

I'll likely need to make a Flash Gordon League with Prince Vultan and Prince Barin on Flash's side...and a new League for Ming with Klytus (sp?). I've got to have at least one Dr. Doom that would be a pretty good representation of Ming's right-hand man in the movie.

I finally dug out the "new" digital camera that I bought a little over a year ago and I got some advice on uploading pictures...so hopefully this weekend I'll have pictures up for the most recent Leagues that I posted.

But mostly, I'm using Heroclix/Horrorclix pieces for the recent Leagues.

Hydra Miniatures looks to have a pretty good retro sci-fi look. I've bought a few of the models, but have yet to paint them up. (I only got them because the Meet-up group I am with (Long Beach Geeks) briefly discussed doing a Flash Gordon cosplay, but then dropped it for something else.) But I'd need a cool spaceship model anyway.
